The Chevy Safety Assist driver-assistance suite is included on every Trax. Visit the EPA's website for additional information on the Trax's fuel efficiency. Those numbers are comparable to those of the non-turbo Mazda CX-30 (albeit the CX-30 has all-wheel drive while the Trax only has front-wheel drive) the Trax has higher city fuel efficiency than the Hyundai Kona. The 2024 Chevy Trax gets 28 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. Short bottom cushions also reduce thigh support for taller drivers. Although the front seats are comfy, the driving stance isn't as dominating as you'd expect from an SUV. Even for those restricted to the back seat, there is plenty of headroom and legroom in both seats. When the second-row seats are folded down, there is 54.1 cubic feet of capacity, which is more normal for the segment. The Trax offers more capacity behind its back seats than most other subcompact SUVs, with 25.6 cubic feet. While electronic comforts like remote start, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a sunroof vary by model, they help liven up an otherwise dull cabin. Its driving posture is also lower and more carlike this time around, which we think is a great bonus. Its driver-facing infotainment screen and climate controls are well placed, but the remainder of the cabin is constructed of the standard materials seen in this price range. The harsh plastics are still present throughout the cabin, although they are fewer and further apart than previously. The cabin design is clean and contemporary, and it works well with some upgraded materials in often-handled areas. The same cannot be stated for the updated 2024 model. InteriorThe previous 2022 Chevy Trax was chastised for its low-rent cabin in a class with low expectations. Some claim it's too rough on uneven pavement, while others say the suspension dampens things enough. The Trax's riding quality has received mixed reviews. The steering is light and fast, making it simple to park the Trax in small spaces, but it may make the SUV seem a little shaky at higher speeds. When navigating through corners, this SUV seems anchored to the road, and side-to-side body movements are held in check. Ride and HandlingThe Trax offers a standard driving experience. The Trax is marginally faster than its all-wheel-drive sister, reaching 60 mph in a relatively sluggish 8.8 seconds. For the most part, it shifts smoothly, although downshifts are sometimes delayed, and the transmission has a propensity to seek out the proper gear. The six-speed transmission, on the other hand, is less reliable. For a tiny car, the journey to highway speeds, as well as passing and merging, is approximately average. The new Trax has plenty of low-end power to get you around town quickly. This engine has one fewer cylinder and 18 fewer hp than the previous generation however, there is little difference in real-world performance. Front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission are standard. EngineThe turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine in the 2024 Chevy Trax provides 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard on LT and above trim levels, making navigation and audio playback from your smartphone a snap. The LT comes standard with a large 11.0-inch infotainment display and remote start, but we'd go for the optional heated front seats and steering wheel. The LT hits the perfect spot between price and features. The Chevy Trax has several enticing upgrades that won't break the budget. They differ in appearance, with the 2RS essentially merging the 1RS and LT, and the ACTIV being the only trim having a power-adjustable driver's seat. The Trax 2RS and ACTIV both cost $23,900. The Trax LT (MSRP: $22,300) adds an 11-inch touch screen to the standard model's 8-inch screen, as well as fabric and synthetic leather upholstery, a digital gauge cluster display, and proximity keyless entry. The Trax 1RS adds sharper details, alloy wheels, and heated front seats for $22,100. This base LS trim comes with a long list of amenities, including the majority of the Trax's driver-assistance technologies. Pricing and TrimsThe 2024 Chevrolet Trax has a starting price of $20,400. 2020:updated infotainment system Midnight Edition discontinued.2022:engine output increased by 17 horsepower and 29 pound-feet of torque.
